Currently I’m working on a new XNA avatar animation rig for Softimage. I’m planning to release it as an add-on for Autodesk Softimage 2010 and Autodesk Softimage Mod Tool 7.5. The add-on will include the rig, a script to export the avatar animation based on a custom file format (needed to support expressions) and a game sample with the custom importer and processor.

Looking forward to it – Thanks!
Hi Eric,
I have asked a question on the XNA Community Forums about the interpretation of the Microsoft XNA Premium Content License. I was expecting some clarifications regarding the distribution of a modified premium content, and I was thinking that a member of the XNA team could give me the answer but, as you can read in the thread (which is locked now), and as it is specified in this post, it seems more complicated than that. I have neither the money nor the time to find a way to distribute this rig without risking any legal problem. I am sorry, I know that you were expecting to use this rig.
No worries, Simon, it’s completely understandable. That being said, I suspect the XNA folks would be happy to take your modified rig and update their original to use your changes if you wanted to go that way. Either way, thanks for the response.
Hello again,
Looks like they released rigs for 4.0 with a new license, the Microsoft Permissive License. If you happened to be working on a XNA 4 version, perhaps this would enable distribution? They don’t appear to be premium content either. I’m hopeful
Cheers,
Eric
